STEP

      The Ministry of Rural Development had recently sanctioned a special project under SGSY to Ajmal Foundationfor skill development training for employment and placement (Step) for rural youth of BPL Families in Uttar Pradesh, Maharastra,, Karnataka and Assam. STEP- A Skill Training Programme for the economic and social prosperity of poor rural youth belonging to Minority, SC/ ST and other disadvantaged groups (BPL Families) under SGSY Special Scheme

Objectives-

      STEP is skill development and training at enhanced level, enhancement of education and skill levels of workers, multi skill development including computer and communication skills, effective partnership of all the stakeholders and of course responsive training system for a secured placement in the job market.

      STEP will play a crucial role in skill development and career progression. The target rural youth will acquire skills that will make them more employable and adaptable as the change occurs. The employers in turn will get a more motivated and effective workforce Improved Skills levels will lead to improved productivity, quality and capacity to innovate.

      Skill Training will also facilitate the process of social inclusion: Improved skills will create better jobs; greater income and opportunity to achieve because of ability and not because of background/ status.
